During his Career Nujabes released four studio albums, produced and collaborated with American artists such as Hip Hop legend, CL Smooth, Jazz guitarist Terry Callier, and Japanese-American Hip Hop artist Shing02.
Nujabes also contributed to the opening track and soundtrack of Samurai Champloo, a popular Anime series (seen on Cartoon Network) which blends a feudal Japan setting with modern anachronisms, especially in regard to hip hop culture.
DJ Asu, Peaceland Coordinator and Promoter of Pop Show Japan has been involved with both Anime and Hip Hop for a good portion of my life.
“It was great to see both worlds come together in Samurai Champloo. “ I was very curious about Nujabes and how he truly set an atmosphere from the opening theme. He came correct and opened up a new avenue of music for me and many others”
